Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply to both the Grow Your Business Online and Boost Your Business Technology grant streams?

Yes, you can.

Will the micro-grant be distributed upfront to cover the costs?

No. The business must provide a copy of the invoices and proof of payment in order to receive a reimbursement.

How to access funds?

The Government of Canada will reimburse you for up to 90 percent of eligible expenses, up to $15,000. Once the digital advisor from GEO has completed work on your digital adoption plan you need to submit the relevant invoices to receive your grant payment.

What is the process to claim the micro-grant if my business opts for a monthly subscription or another recurring service?

As a business owner you can prepay the monthly subscription up to $2,400 and submit the invoice and proof of payment to claim the micro-grant.

Can I use the grant to purchase some hardware with accompanying software?


E-Commerce related software is eligible for 100% of grant amount.

Hardware and accompanying non-ecommerce related software are eligible for up to 20% of total grant amount.

Example: An example of limited coverage for software would be any software that is bought with the equipment that is required to support an e-commerce strategy. If a small business buys a new e-commerce integrated point of sale (POS) system that costs $1,300, CDAP will cover 20% or $260.

The maximum amount of the grant that can be allocated to hardware and related software is 20% of $2,400 or $480.

Can my business cover expenses associated with digital marketing / social media / SEO if I do not have or intend to have an e-commerce store?

No, your business must have an e-commerce presence to be eligible for funds for digital marketing.
